"Boots" is a dry romantic comedy between a man and a cat that he happens to inherit as excess baggage from his recent live-in girlfriend. We are currently looking for talent for the following roles:
Paul - 30s - Not terribly handsome or ambitious. Think of the pizza delivery guy. Paul is the nice guy that just can't say no.
Melanie - 30s - The crazy cat lady in her 30s.
Cashier - Female anywhere between 20-50. We know, a pretty broad range.

Hello friends and fellow filmmakers! The 48 Hour Film Project returns to Hampton Roads for 2009
during the weekend of August 7-9th. While we love and appreciate our fellow filmmakers in Richmond we think its time to show them how its really done! Grab your friends and start assembling your teams because this year will be better than ever!
What is the 48 Hour Film Project? In short, at 7PM Friday, August 7th, you and your team, along with other teams from Hampton Roads, receive a genre, the name of a prop, a line of dialogue, and a character. You have until 7PM on Sunday, August 9th to write, produce, edit, and complete a film that must use all of those elements. Its a gloriously exhausting weekend spent doing the thing you love with the people you want to work with!

The film, produced by Opening Act Productions, is a coming–of-age story about a fellowship of geeky gamer friends who set off on an adventure to a Lord of the Rings gaming convention. Student entries wanted for the Southern Appalachian International Film Festival!
SOAPIFF, located in Johnson City, Tennessee, strives to publicly recognize, promote and preserve the work of independent filmmakers and encourage film production and film culture in Southern Appalachia.
All filmmakers worldwide are invited to participate including film professionals, teachers, faculty, students both high school and college. All student filmmakers should enter our SOAPIFF – iTunes U Audience Choice Award competition. All high school students as well as full and part time college students are eligible to compete.
For the 2009 Festival, SOAPIFF competition will accept short and feature films from professional and student filmmakers in the following categories:
>Cultural Minorities: Films emerging from or about cultural minorities in any country.
>.Appalachian: Films that are a product of Appalachia, Appalachian filmmakers, or films with subject matter that emerges from the culture, individuals, geographic area, and history of Appalachia.
>Gender Subjects: Films that deal with the perspectives of the female or male experience, as well as films about gender orientation, bisexual, lesbian, gay, trans-gender themes, issues and influence.
Documentaries: Non-fiction subjects, nature, environmental.
>Animation: Films that primarily employ motion graphic or stop motion technique in the image.
>Children: Family friendly films directed toward children, entertainment for immature audiences, films for or by children, no adult content or adult language, violence or gore. Made by children 14 and younger.
>Features: All fictional films that run more than 45 minutes. Features and Shorts are accepted in all genres and subjects, including categories not listed.

Have you ever wanted to make your own movie? Film Camp gives students the knowledge and experience to begin their journey in filmmaking. Taught by instructors who have worked on feature films, national commercials, and with Spielberg, Disney, Tyler Perry, PBS and more, students learn how to script, direct produce, cast, light and shoot their own short film. By the end of the two week session, participants will have the tools to express their creativity on the big screen. For them, movies will never be the same. Working with a writing coach, they will create an original performance and bring it to life as actors, singers and dancers! Students will learn basic acting skills, movement for actors, voice, stage & costume design, plus so much more! This program is designed for beginner to intermediate levels. Family and friends are invited to the final performance! (Flynn has been an Adjunct Faculty member with Virginia Commonwealth University. She is the former Lead Dance Teacher for the Henrico Center for the Arts. Flynn has served as an Adjudicator for the Governor’s School for the Visual and Performing Arts and Appomattox Regional Governor’s School.)
