2010 State Of The Industry & EXPO - Hampton Roads (6:00 pm - 9:00 pm)

THE EVENT
At the State of the Industry and Expo, you will see old friends and colleagues and meet others who are part of Virginia’s film, television, video, audio, and new media production community. There will be hors d’oeuvres and an open bar serving beer, wine, and soft drinks. You can mingle with the crowd or visit the Virginia businesses and organizations that are participating in the EXPO. There will also be a screening room where Virginia-made short films, trailers and clips will be shown throughout the evening. Free parking is available at the 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. event.

There is no admission charge. However, to help with planning, an RSVP is requested by January 16 for Richmond, January 28 for Hampton Roads, and February 4 for Northern Virginia.  Email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. International And Independent Film Series (7:00 pm - 9:00 pm)

The Chesterfield County Public Library continues its yearlong International and Independent Film Series in February, bringing films from around the world to Chesterfield County audiences. Films will be shown 7-9 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month at Midlothian Library. Films in the series have not been rated and are for adults. Admission is free and there is no registration.

James River Filmmakers Forum The James River Filmmakers Forum is an RMIC program designed to bring together area filmmakers and others interested in independent filmmaking for an evening of film screenings and discussion. Featuring the following filmmakers and their films:

  • Megan Holley - Squashing Ticks (short film)
  • Todd Raviotta - directors montage
  • Jeff Roll - La Mere Vipere – First Command (music video)
  • Necole Zayatz - The Objective Case of WE (experimental video)
  • Eric Miller - Taste The Blood of Frankenstein (comedy)

    • No format restrictions (small gauge vintage film to digital video)
    • No time restrictions (short form to full length...eventually)

    • Last, but not least, indie film buffs

    The discussion forum is modeled after film screenings at the San Diego Comic-Con or Meet the Press without all the politics.

7th Italian FF posterCombine classic and groundbreaking Italian films with classic and mouthwatering Italian food to experience a feast for the all the senses.

Tickets for individual films: $15 per person. Tickets for individual films will only be sold at the box office the day of festival. Once the box office opens, you can purchase tickets for any of the four films.

All-day passes: $45 per person. Passes will be available for advance purchase at Video Fan, 403 Strawberry Street, beginning February 1, as well as the day of the festival.

Included with each ticket: a classic Italian film pared with mouthwatering Italian food and coffee. Italian beer, wine and other beverages will be available for purchase.

All films will be presented in Italian with English subtitles.

The Virginia Independent Film Festival (All Day)

Join us the Byrd Theatre on February 28th for the 3rd annual Virginia Independent Film Festival, an all day screening of independent documentaries, short films and features from Virginia filmmakers.

Docs are showing 1pm-3pm, Shorts are showing 3pm-5pm, and Features are showing 5pm-10pm.

The films cover all genres, from sci-fi and horror to comedies and dramas.

Participate in a Q&A panel with the filmmakers after the screenings and vote for an Audience Choice winner in each session.

$5 any of the three sessions (Docs, Shorts or Features), $10 All Day Pass, $2 with student ID for any single session.
