CVPA: How'd They Do That?! Visual FX! (6:30 am - 9:00 am)
Visual FX and motion graphics can help communicate ideas and concepts elegantly and simply. They enhance the entire aesthetic of a project, be it film, television, or web-based media. And the rapid advance of technology keeps increasing the possibilities for a filmmaker to combine live-action footage and digital techniques.
But how does all that magic happen? What goes into the process of conceptualizing and designing effects? How can a filmmaker best utilize motion graphics? When and how should you solicit the work of a Visual FX artist?
Come find out as we talk to a VFX master, Jonah Tobias, our guest speaker for this month’s ME: How'd They Do That?! Visual FX!
About Jonah:
Jonah Tobias has been creating graphics and visual effects professionally for 11 years. His work is featured in Morgan Spurlock's Academy Award nominated documentary Super Size Me. He created the intro graphics for TED conferences and TED Talks. More recently Jonah has created graphics for Dave Matthews Band, American Idol and Azerbaijan's Olympic Bid. He has built several animated show packages and pilots for the PBS show Jean-michel Cousteau's Ocean Adventures, FX Network’s 30 Days, Discovery Channel’s Forensics You Decide, and many others.
