June 2009: Interview with crew member Cindy Foy |
Hampton Roads VPA Chapter: Who's Who in the Crew - June 2009
Interviewed by David Almeleh
Just a quick note to tell you all that I haven’t abandoned my post here in the ethereal cyberworld of the internet. But my career as a Las Vegas showgirl comes first, and my calves have been a mooin’ as of late. But between rubdowns, I managed to catch up with this month’s interviewee: producer, director, writer and Virginia Beach native Cindy Foy.

She’s not all business though, and has a fantastic sense of humor, as her answers bear out.
Cindy graduated Kellam High and continued on to college to get her degree in finance. She worked for about a year in D.C., but the model her father provided as a developer, working for himself, appealed to her more.

Kwame Nkrumah Rakes was cruising the Arbys drive through and rockin’ a number two combo when he called me back to tighten up our interview.
“I shouldn’t be eating this, but it’s ROAST BEEF!” he said enthusiastically.
“Kwame” comes from the first president of the modern state of Ghana. It means “Born on a Saturday.” His father admired the leader, which explains the consonant crammed middle name.
His father passed away when he was four. Mom moved the family of two down to Hampton Roads soon after. The memories of his father are few: the funeral, and how his father once bought him and Evel Knievel motorcycle toy and showed him how to make it go down the hall.
