Economic Impact Of Film and Television Industry on Virginia: Just The Facts…

Want to be armed with the facts of how the state’s incentive program for film production benefited us?

 We are looking at:

-$394 million:  The 2011 total economic impact of the film and television industry in Virginia.

-$14.3 percent:  The increase in economic impact from 2012.

-3, 817 jobs were attributed to the film industry in 2011, up from 2,651 in 2010.

-$64 million – total economic impact of Lincoln.

The industry seems to be emerging for a long economic downturn. Part of this growth is a result of the economy as a whole, but a greater part is due to the financial incentives for film created by Governor McDonnell and the Virginia General Assembly.

Kudos goes to everyone who is part of the Virginia Production Alliance, the voice of Virginia’s production community.  The tireless work done by the Alliance was the driving force behind the education of our lawmakers and the passage of legislation in support of our industry. Congratulations!
